Parametric instability in a collisional dusty plasma
The present work investigates the parametric instability of parallel propagating circularly polarized Alfvén pump waves in a collisional dusty plasma. It is demonstrated that the relative drift between the charged dust and the electrons and ions gives rise to the Hall effect resulting in the modified pump wave characteristics. Although the linearized fluid equations with periodic coefficients a...
متن کاملEnhanced spontaneous backscattering in Brillouin dynamic gratings.
Spontaneous Brillouin backscattering, which accompanies the operation of Brillouin dynamic gratings (BDGs) setups, is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that this noisy emission, which cannot be separated from the signal of interest, contains not only the probe spontaneous Brillouin backscattering but also a significant contribution from the spontaneous/stimulated a...
متن کاملInstability of a current-carrying finite-beta collisional plasma.
The microinstability of a cross-field current-carrying plasma in which the electron collisions are important on the time scale of the oscillations and can be modeled with a Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook operator is studied using linearized kinetic theory under conditions of finite electron beta. The finiteness of beta allows for coupling between electrostatic and electromagnetic modes and necessitates ...
متن کاملFluid description of collisional current filamentation instability of a weakly ionized plasma in the presence of magnetic field
In this paper, the collisional filamentation instability of an electron beam-weakly magnetized and ionized plasma has been investigated in the presence of background plasma, using the fluid description. By describing the equilibrium configuration in the presence of binary collision terms between charged and neutral particles and using the local approximation method, the dispersion relation (DR)...
متن کاملCurrent-Driven Dust Ion-Acoustic Instability in a Collisional Dusty Plasma - Plasma Science, IEEE Transactions on
A fluid analysis of the excitation of dust ion-acoustic (DIA) waves in a collisional dusty plasma is presented. The DIA waves are excited by a relative drift of the electrons and ions produced by a steady-state electric field applied to the plasma. The DIA instability is more easily excited if the relative concentration of negatively charged dust is increased.
